Legendary Player Post: Jared Borgetti "The Dessert Fox"

    Seen how this is the first post on this blog, i thought it would only be  right to start of with a legendary player post. After really contemplating which player to pick, I decided to start with my all time favorite futbol player, the iconic Jared Borgetti. Jared Borgetti was one of the most iconic Mexican footballers to ever play; both in the National and club level. What made Borgetti a lethal and dangerous striker was his incredible heading ability. At his prime Borgetti was one of the game's most dangerous aerial threats in the entire globe. His precise  accuracy with the header made Borgetti one of the most clinical finishers in the game. His nickname "el zorro del desierto" ( the dessert fox) is due to his first professional team and birthplace. 

    National Team: Borgetti is the all time leading goal scorer for the Mexican national soccer team with 46 goals. Jared Borgetti debuted with the Mexican national team on February 5, 1997. However Borgetti would't really make his mark with the national team till the 2002 World Cup qualifiers that began in the year 2000. From that moment on Borgetti rapidly set him self apart from other Mexican strikers thanks to his clinical finishing, and incredible heading ability that no other Mexican striker portrayed.Throughout his career Borgetti became a regular in the national team, which totaled 89 caps. With Mexico Borgetti participated in 2 Fifa world cups; Korea-Japan 2002, and Germany 2006. Jared also participated in other international tournaments such as Gold cup, Federations cup, and Copa America. Borgetti's  most successful tournament was the 2005 Fifa confederations cup. There Borgetti scored goals against futbol powerhouses Brazil and Germany and helped Mexico to a fourth place finish. With the national team Borgetti had goals against important rivals like USA, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and many more. But  To  the majority of  people, Jared will always be remembered for his iconic header goal in a group stage meeting vs Italy in the 2002 Korea-Japan Fifa World Cup. To this day it's still remembered as one of the best goals of the 2002 Fifa world cup and one of the best headers in world cup history. 

Club Level: Jared Borgetti played for several futbol clubs throughout his career. He started his professional career in Atlas back in 1994. Borgetti was then sold to Santos Laguna futbol club where he become the most iconic figure in Santos Laguna's history. In 1996 Jared Borgetti lead Santos Laguna to its first championship in team history after defeating Necaxa 

 in the 1996 torneo de invierno final. Jared had the winning goal in overtime with a stelar header.Jared then went on to give Santos Laguna its second championship after defeating Pachuca futbol club on a aggregate score of 4-3 in the Torneo de Verano 2001. Jared scored the first goal for Santos Laguna that opened the way to another tittle. throughout the early and mid 00's Borgetti continued perform at a superior level with Santos Laguna.In 2004 after 9 years with Santos, Borgetti would depart the club and join his hometown club, Dorados. Borgetti would spend a year with the club , which led to minimal success. In 2005 Borgetti would join Pachuca on what was supposed to be a one year deal. At Pachuca Borgetti once again would reach a fantastic superior level. After Pachuca Borgetti would once again make history by becoming the first Mexican footballer to play in the English Premier League. He did so by joining joining the English side Bolton in summer of 2005. Borgetti scored his first goal for the club  during Bolton's first ever UEFA Cup appearance vs the Russian side Lokomotiv in  September 15, 2005. By doing so he became the first Mexican to score for an English futbol club.  After a year with the club Borgetti would sign with the Saudi Arabian club  Al-Ittihad. After 2006 Borgetti would leave Al-Ittihad and return to the Mexican league. He would join Cruz Azul in 2007 and from there went on to play for Monterrey, Guadalajara, Puebla and Morelia. While at Morelia Borgetti would score his 250th goal, placing him in third, as the all time leading scorer in the Mexican Soccer league. In  2010 Borgetti would sign for his final club Leon. After been released of his contract Borgetti announced his retirement in December 2010.Borgetti now stands as one of the greatest strikers to ever play in the Mexican soccer league.
